Please join us in celebrating International Women's Day at the University of Chicago. Observed on March 8 every year in more than one hundred countries around the world, International Women’s Day celebrates the economic, political and social achievements of women, points to prevailing gender inequalities, and engages in discussion regarding the advancement of women around the world. This year, the Office of International Affairs, with several University partners, plans to join this celebration and focus on women from around the world at the University, hearing their stories and learning of their experience with and contributions to academic life here.
The agenda planned for March 8 includes
- a student-only workshop on gender dynamics in the classroom,
- a short film about women at the University of Chicago,
- screening of the documentary film "The Light in Her Eyes" with the film’s director joining us to introduce the work and answer questions,
- a photo exhibit
- a message board at the Reynolds Club where we encourage you to leave a message about what empowers you.
Please see the flyer to the right and the University calendar item for details. We hope that you will be able to join us!
