To get a document notarized, you need to find a notary public. A notary public is a person authorized by the state of Illinois to verify your identification when you sign official documents. Be sure to bring proper identification (such as a passport) along with the document to be notarized.
For school-related business, you can get a document notarized free of charge at two locations on campus:
- OIA (appointment required and for university-related business only) The notary public at OIA will provide services to anyone who is not a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, including international students, scholars, postdoctoral researchers, staff, faculty and their dependents.
